What did you talk about at Blissdom Canada anyway?

As I mentioned previously in my One Word post, I attended the Blissdom Canada conference in Toronto last week.  Although there are a lot of conferences for women bloggers in the United States (way too many to choose from), this was the first one to make its way to Canada. I had fun, learned a lot, and made some great connections at the conference, as I have in the past at BlogHer conferences. What I loved most about Blissdom Canada though was the atmosphere: the smaller size, the slower pace, and the way that the conference organizers made everyone feel at home through their warm presence, welcoming social events, mapletastic speakers, and inspiring agenda.

My panel

Somehow I never manage to go to a blog conference without being on a panel (I'll have to do that one day...it is probably more relaxing!). At Blissdom Canada I was asked to lead the beginner to intermediate content panel called If a Blog Falls in the Forest: How to Get Your Blog to Make a Sound.

My co-panelists were the wonderful Heather from Globe Trotting Mama, Emma from Embrace the Chaos, Amy from Hearts into Home, and Aidan from The Palinode (Emma is cut off from the picture because she still owes me a guest post...just kidding Emma!).

The panel started off with a short presentation on the basics of blog content, followed by a panel discussion on topics ranging from what to blog about to how much personal information to share to any blogging regrets.

I've embedded a copy of the presentation here (posted to Slideshare) if you want to check it out (you may have to use the zoom function to "zoom to page" to see the full slide).  If you want to get a better idea of what was said and how the discussion went, you can check out the live blog of the session on Capital Mom's blog (thank you Brie!).

Next year

There are already plans for Blissdom Canada 2011. I hope to be there and I hope to see you there too!

Images of our session are courtesy of the fabulous CL Buchanan Photography, one of the official Blissdom Canada photographers. Thank you Cherie-Lynn!

It was such a pleasure to meet everyone and be a panelist along with you, Heather and Emma. But not Amy. She kept lighting matches and flicking them at me the whole time.
