All about my mom (by Julian)
Sunday, October 25, 2009
If you've been wanting to learn more about me, this is your chance. This morning I sat down and asked Julian some questions about mothering and about his mother (that's me!). I saw these questions in the mumsy meme post on blue milk and she got them from Out of the mouths of... on Wallaby. I modified some of the questions because the references to God would have made no sense to Julian.
I also tried to ask Emma these questions, but she has a bit of a potty mouth at the moment. The answer to each question was pee pee, poo poo, or some combination thereof.
I'd like to learn more about you too...would you ask your kids these questions, post the answers on your blog and link back here? Drop your post URL in the comments below too if you do.
Q1. Why did God make mothers? (modified question: What are mothers for?)
For love.
Q2. How did God make mothers? (modified question: How were mothers made?)
You were in somebody's tummy and then you came out.
Q3. What ingredients are mothers made of ?
Cement and bones and blood. Your head is made out of cement. It is very hard.
Q4. Why did God give you your mother and not some other Mum? (modified question: Why am I your mommy your mommy instead of another woman being your mommy?)
Because you love me and you like to hug me.
Q5. What kind of little girl was your mommy?
I think you were funny. I'm a little bit nervous because I don't understand what you are saying.
Q6. What did Mommy need to know about Daddy before she married him?
You had to remind him you were going to marry him.
Q7. Why did your Mommy marry (choose) your Daddy?
Because you love him.
Q8. Who’s the boss at your house?
Mommy and Daddy.
Q9. What’s the difference between mommies and daddies?
Daddies are bigger than mommies.
Q10. What does your mommy do in her spare time?
You sit on the chair upstairs or downstairs.
Q11. What would it take to make your mommy perfect?
You're perfect right now because you are cuddling me.
Q12. If you could change one thing about your mommy, what would it be?
I would change your eyes from blue to green.
I also tried to ask Emma these questions, but she has a bit of a potty mouth at the moment. The answer to each question was pee pee, poo poo, or some combination thereof.

The cement head answer made me LOL!! Julian's answers were all very sweet. I'd LOVE to ask my boy these questions but he's only 5 months old at the moment. Perhaps next week! =)
You must be doing well if all he would change is your eye color! I'd ask Daniel these questions, but his answers would all be laughing or cooing, and that probably wouldn't make a very good post unless I do a vlog.
@Jen - Devourer of Books: I think I caught him on a good day! I was shocked that was all he came up with.
"You’re perfect right now because you are cuddling me."
So sweet!!
My 2 yo is in the potty mouth stage now, too. He actually wanted to name our chickens Tooty and Poopy. Very classy. I love that my children have recognized there is power in their words, I just hate taking them out in public when they're exploring their verbal options.
I'd love to ask Orion these questions but I just know the answer to all of them would be "I don't know!" ;)
Love this!! Wonderful responses! :)
What a lovely set of questions and what beautiful answers your boy had. You must be doing something right. I'm up for the challenge, I'll interview my boys tomorrow..
I love his responses! So sweet and funny!
that is so cute! :)
That's pretty much what I got from my 5yo. There were a few ok answers. Here they are: http://recoveringprocrastinator.blogspot.com/2009/10/graces-take-on-mommies.html
Now she wants me to ask her questions about kids. LOL
Adorable! My favorite was his answer to q 11! I'd ask my daughter, but she is only 25 months. Maybe a year from now!
Thanks for this post. I can't wait to hear what my 5 month old will answer such questions one day. Isn't being a mommy wonderful! I really enjoy your blog. Keep up the excellent posting!
Emma's answers are halarious because when I did something like this with my daughter about a year ago (not for the blog) that's all she would say too!
[...] saw these questions at PhD in Parenting and couldn’t resist playing with too. A special post today dedicated to the sometimes strange [...]
I loved reading your questions and the responses and couldn't wait to give it a try with my four year old.
This is what he had to say: http://www.innerparent.com/?p=976
Thanks for the great idea!

Oh the "I'm a little bit nervous" bit - Adorable!!!!
Your head is made of cement. I'm sure there are some people who agree. Maybe some people who work at Nestle. :)
Enjoy your time in your chair.

@Michelle: Thanks for sharing! I tried to leave a comment on your blog, but it said "just for team members". Here is what I wrote:
Here's ours too. http://geekygamingmama.blogspot.com/2009/10/interview-with-5-year-old-and-his-baby.html
I got my 2 year old to answer some of them too but most of them were a bit beyond him. He tried, though.
I didn't realize it was like that. I changed it to registered users. (Just want to discourage spam.) If you can't post then, please let me know.
Thank you for your kind comments! If you can post them on the blog, that would be awesome! LOL :-)

"You’re perfect right now because you are cuddling me."
Clearly, I'm extra emotional today because I found this so sweet it actually made me tear up. And squeeze my little one tighter.
I see things like this and I want so badly to participate, but while my wee one does sign, I don't think it would make much sense in the context of the questions. Although "Nurse, please!" could fit under some I suppose. :)
@Rachel: Enjoy the baby stage....I'm already missing my babies.
Very funny. I am going to have to try this. I think I will need to ask my husband to record the asnwers since writing them down and listening without laughing might be too much for me to do at once.
My DD started talking at 10 months old and has never stopped (really). I couldn't wait to ask her these questions. She seemed a bit "hesitant" at first and asked, "Is this for school or Sparks?"
